A Birmingham resident won a $20,000 national women’s entrepreneurship grant from Yahoo! for her startup company that offers products for children with disabilities.

Karla Duncan, founder of Head 2 Toe, won a grant package that also
includes Web design services and mentoring from established
entrepreneurs. She beat 5,500 other applicants in Yahoo!’s Seeds for
Success women’s entrepreneurship grant program.

Yahoo! and former star of "The Apprentice" Carolyn Kepcher selected Head 2 Toe as the contest’s top idea, a news release said.  She will receive mentoring from Bobbie Brown, CEO of Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, and Cathie Black, president of Hearst Magazines.

Head 2 Toe will receive two years of Web hosting from Yahoo! and up
to $5,000 in free technical services from a Yahoo! Small Business
partner to build a company Web site.
